Fixed-Rate Electricity Services for
Ontario Businesses
Fixed supply rates. Straightforward contracts. Same utility delivery.
Most Ontario businesses receive electricity under variable supply rates determined by market conditions, system demand, and regulatory factors. Ontario Wholesale Energy provides an alternative: fixed-rate electricity supply contracts that allow businesses to secure a stable per-kilowatt-hour supply rate for a defined term.
Your electricity continues to be delivered by your local utility. OWE’s role is limited to supplying the energy at the fixed rate specified in your contract. Delivery, billing, and maintenance remain entirely with the utility.
Why Electricity Bills Can Change Month to Month
Electricity bills can vary for many Ontario businesses because several components on the invoice may change from one cycle to the next. Key factors include:
- Time-of-use periods: For customers on TOU or ULO pricing, the rate depends on when electricity is used.
- Seasonal demand patterns: Hot and cold periods influence overall system usage, which can affect certain bill components.
- Regulated Price Plan updates: The Ontario Energy Board adjusts RPP supply rates twice per year, which may influence future bills.
- Bill structure: Delivery charges, regulatory items, Global Adjustment, and changes in consumption often shift month to month.
These factors contribute to the variability that many businesses see on their Ontario electricity bills.
What We Do
Ontario Wholesale Energy provides businesses with the option to secure a fixed electricity supply rate through straightforward, Ontario Energy Board–compliant contracts. This allows small and mid-sized organizations access to a long-term fixed rate.
- Your local utility continues to deliver electricity and issue your monthly bill
- You select a contract term from one to five years
- This model offers an alternative to the variable supply rate provided by your utility
What You Can Expect
- A contract structured for your business: Each agreement is tailored to your consumption profile, operational requirements, and preferred contract term. OWE does not use generic or standardized contract models; each one is built individually.
- A fixed electricity supply rate for the full term: OWE secures the per-kilowatt-hour supply rate outlined in your contract. Your local utility continues to deliver the electricity, maintain infrastructure, and issue your monthly bill.
- A seamless transition: Your service remains uninterrupted. Nothing changes in how electricity reaches your business; only the supply rate is secured through your contract with OWE.
- Clear, transparent documentation: You receive a customized contract proposal that outlines the structure, terms, and responsibilities in straightforward, accessible language.

Plan Options
Choose a plan based on your usage, seasonality, and planning horizon. We’ll help you decide what makes the most sense.
How It Works
You do not need to be an electricity expert. We have designed the process to be straightforward:
- Share your current bill: During the energy audit, we ask for a photo or a PDF of your bill. This allows us to review your usage patterns and your existing supply rate.
- Review your options: After understanding your business, we provide a clear comparison between your current utility supply rate and available fixed-rate contract options customized to your needs.
- Custom plan: Choose a multi-year fixed-rate supply agreement that aligns with your planning needs.
- We coordinate the transition: Your electricity remains with your utility. There is no service interruption.
What Changes (and What Doesn’t)
Changes
Your electricity supply rate is fixed for your contract term.
Doesn’t change
You still receive electricity from your local utility. Delivery, demand, and regulatory fees stay exactly as they are.
